And even if the individual does not become suicidal, the repercussions of not having any income would adversely affect their health. The likelihood of premature death increases with the lack of medical insurance which usually comes with the loss of employment (Nichols, 2013). It is affected so greatly that the likelihood of death the year after becoming unemployed goes up by 50-100% (Sullivan, 2009).
